What it does

13 hot-swap keys

Plug-in MX switches on a 21.5 mm grid, including one wide key. Bind them to anything.

Knob and joystick

A clicky rotary encoder for scrolling and an analog joystick for navigation.

Built-in screen

A 0.85" color LCD on the front, driven by the controller.

Lit keys

Six RGB lights shine up through the board into the top row keys.

Open firmware

CircuitPython on an RP2040. Edit one file to change what every input does.

USB-C

One cable for power and data, with ESD protection and a resettable fuse.

C5 sends standard keys (F13–F24, arrows, Enter) that you map in your own tools. It is an independent design and does not include the official Codex Micro's native app integration.

FAQ

Does it work with the Codex app like the original?

No. It's a USB keyboard that sends standard keys (F13–F24, arrows, Enter). You map those to shortcuts in your editor, terminal or OS. It doesn't have the official device's native app integration.

What do I get with the files?

Everything used to make it: 14 STL print files, STEP CAD, the KiCad PCB project, ready-to-upload JLCPCB order files and the firmware. You download them right after checkout.

What does it cost to build from the files?

You order the PCB assembled from JLCPCB (minimum five boards), then add a KB2040 controller, switches, joystick, knob, screen and screws. The download includes the full parts list with links and a step-by-step build guide.

When does the assembled one ship?

Units from this run are built and ready. You'll get tracking by email once it ships. US addresses only.
